30 youths between 13 and 17 years old, from all walks of life and seven different countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Romania et Poland), participated in the international youth exchange which took place in Bruly-de-Pesche, near Couvin, in Belgium.

During those 10 days (August 14 to August 24, 2013), the youths were self-reliant and put together several activities: thematic workshops, physical exercises, educational games, meetings with the local community, and a trip to Brussels during which they could get closer to European institutions as well as a sports day at the Lacs de l’Eau d’Heure, where they experienced the wonders of tree trekking.

Through these non-formal education techniques, we helped the youths :

  • By making them see the way sport can be used to prevent illnesses and promote well-being;
  • By teaching them sporting and artistic techniques to be used as a civic tool;
  • By teaching them the values of sport and their positive impact on society;
  • By giving them an environment that fostered the interaction, learning, creativity and growth of the European youths.

This project was carried out by the informal youth group “A Passport for Life” which, today, has become the nonprofit organization Passport for Life.
